Leopard shot dead after attacking locals, cop in UP

The leopard which had strayed into a village in Ashiyana area of the state capital two days ago was shot dead by a police team this morning, officials said.
The leopard which broke through the nets put up by the Forest department team to trap it and injured three locals as well as a policeman who opened fire in self defence, police said.
The injured leopard was rushed to the Lucknow Zoo where it later died.
The big cat had strayed into Aurangabad Khalsa village of Lucknow and the Forest department team had been trying to catch it, the police said.
