A leopardess, which had created fear in the area of Mana open cast mines of Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) in recent times, was trapped and caged on Monday noon, forest department sources said.
According to Assistant Conservator of Forests R M Pawar, the leopardess was captured in May this year after incidents of attacks on humans and cattle.
Later, it was released in the Agarzari Forest Range under the buffer area of Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in August after a radio-collar was attached on it.
"However, the carnivore kept moving for one month and three days, covering a distance of around 110 kms to reach its home range or original habitat. Its movements were being monitored through satellite when it killed cattle and injured a 14-year old boy in Mana area, prompting us to trap it," Pawar said.
