A day after the Delhi government notified app-based Premium Bus Scheme to be rolled out from June 1, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has sought the file pertaining to the project from the former, a move that may delay its implementation.
The AAP dispensation did not seek prior approval from the LG to notify the scheme with government officials claiming that there is no need to do the same before rolling out such scheme.
"The Lt Governor has written to the CM office seeking the file pertaining to app-based Premium Bus Scheme. The move may delay the process to roll out the scheme notified yesterday," said a senior government official.
Only air-conditioned buses will ply under the scheme according to which one bus aggregator will have to run at lease 50 vehicles to get a licence from Delhi government's Transport department. People will be able to book their seats in buses through their smartphones on the lines of app-based taxi services.
The Lt Governor and the Delhi government have been at loggerheads over a range of issues including transfer and postings of officers, introduction of new policies, Commission of Inquiry.
In March, the AAP government had alleged that the Lt Governor had turned down its proposal to create bus lanes in the city's streets and imposition of Rs 2,000 against the violators of the rules.
However, the LG office refuted the charges, saying it had only sought clarification from the government on the proposal.
In the past, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had also slammed Jung for annulling his government orders on several occasions.
