According to prosecution, the woman Vanitha had an affair with Senthilkumar, a mason. When her husband Sasikumar, an employee of Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, came to know about, he warned her.
Angered over it, Vanitha along with Senthilkumar strangulated Sasikumar at his house on March 16, 2013. They then charred the body with the help of the woman's father Murugesan.
When the neighbours noticed that Sasikumar was missing for a long period, they informed his family, who lodged a police complaint.
Second Additional Sessions Judge Balakrishnan awarded life sentence to Vanitha and Senthilkumar for the murder besides three years rigorous imprisonment for destroying the evidence.
The sentences would run concurrently.
The judge also awarded three years rigorous imprisonment to Murugesan for colluding with them to destroy the evidence.
