Lightning kills three tea garden labourers

Three women working in a tea garden died when a severe lightning struck this afternoon in Assam's Jorhat district, a senior police official said.
The women, all regular labourers, were working at Lopohia tea estate under Pulibor police station when they were struck by lightning and died on the spot.
The trio have been identified as Rita karmakar (28), Urmila Nayak (26) and Ruma Nayak(28), who were plucking tea leaves in plot-B, section-15 of the estate.
The tea garden is owned by Barooah and Associates.
