Acting on a tip-off, police signalled a liquor-laden to stop at Railway Crossing. The truck was being escorted by a car whose five occupants opened fire at the police, SSP Anant Dev said.
Police fired in retaliation, killing one of them, he said.
The deceased is identified as Ranvir of Dharuhera area in Haryana, the SSP said.
Two of the other four occupants of the car were arrested when they tried to flee, he said, adding, the truck driver has also been nabbed.
