Newly-appointed Advocate General of Rajasthan Narpat Mal Lodha has said that disposal of matters of contempt against government officials will be his top priority after taking charge.
Lodha, who has held the same position during the previous BJP rule, left for Jaipur today afternoon and will take charge as AG tomorrow.
The senior advocate said "my priority will be disposal of contempt petitions against government officials so that they can discharge their duties instead of frequently appearing before courts".
He said timely reply to the courts with facts, as they would be sought by the courts, in the matters pertaining to the government will also be a priority.
Lodha said he will also pave the way for clearance of held appointments in the courts on different posts so that the vacant seats could be filled and efficiency of the court functioning could be improved as well as employment to the youth could be provided.
Lodha, who has been practicing at Principal Seat of Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur since 1969, has held the positions of presidents of Bar Association and Bar Council of Rajasthan.
During the previous regime of BJP in state, Lodha has been the Additional Advocate General from 2003 to 2008 and was promoted to the post of AG in 2008.
