Lolita Chatterjee feted for 40-yr career in films

Yesteryear actor Lolita Chatterjee, who wowed the audiences with her brooding performance in Goutam Ghosh's recent flick Shunyo Awnko, was conferred the lifetime 'Aponjon' award in recognition of her over four-decade-long career.
Handing over the award to Lolita, whose acting repertoire was studded with record-setters like Raat Andheri Thi (1967 ), Talash (1969) and Victoria no 203 (1972), Tollywood diva Rituparna Sengupta said, "There are two defining moments of my carrer in past two days."
"First I am more than humbled to hand over this honour to Lolita-di, whose intense performances I always looked upto and who did not get what she deserved I feel as an actor from another generation. Then another defining moment came when I was told by my director Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay that our film Aleek Sukh will go to Cannes (film market)," Rituparna said.,

Recollecting when she was first approached by Goutam for Shunyo Awnko, Lolita said, "He said only you can do that role and I was overtaken by emotions."
"Coming at this phase of my life, the 'Medica Aponjon' means a lot. I owe the success to you all, my people," she said.
Actor Bulbul Chowdhury and journalist Ranjit Roy were among the other recipients of the award as zeroed in by a jury comprising thespian Manoj Mitra, former national cricket selector Raju Mukherjee, senior media personalities Goutam Bhattacharya and Anindya Sengupta, besides Riruparna and popular singer Srikanto Acharya.
