A friend of Devora Busch, a mother-of-three who lives in Auckland, set up a Givealittle fundraising page for the family to help with repairs needed on its home, reported Contactmusic.
Busch, who has a severely autistic daughter called Rhee, quit her job several years ago to care for the 10-year-old, and the family was hit by another financial setback recently when hearing loss and other health problems forced Devora's partner Robert to stop working.
The proud couple didn't want to seek assistance, but the friend set up the fundraising page and USD 66,000 has already been raised, including the lump sum from the "Royals" singer.
Devora was stunned by the star's generosity and said, "What an amazing young woman she is. There's no personal connection so I'm very humbled that she would think of us.
