Lots Wholesale Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Thailand-based Siam Makro PCL, today opened its first wholesale distribution centre in the national capital.
This is the first of the 15 distribution centres Lots Wholesale Solutions aims to open in India over the next three years.
Spread over an area of 50,000 square feet, the Lots Wholesale Solutions store will become fully operational and cater to customers from tomorrow.
After inaugurating the store at Netaji Subhash Place here, Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said the opening of the first Lots store in Delhi shows the popularity of Brand India in the world.
"Days are not far for India to become the global food market and global food factory," Badal said in a statement.
The company had announced its foray into India at the World Food India 2017 with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth Rs 1,000 crores signed with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
With its initial footprints in Delhi NCR, Lots Wholesale Solutions will help generate 5,000 direct and indirect jobs over the next five years, the statement added.
Thailand's Ambassador to India Chutintorn Gongsakdi, CP Group Senior Chairman Dhanin Chearavanont, Group CEO of Siam Makro PCL Suchada Ithijarukul, among others were present at the event.
The newly launched store is fully equipped with modern warehousing and storage facilities for its members, which include hotels, restaurants and caterers, kirana stores, corporates, MSMEs and institutions such as government agencies, educational institutes and hospitals.
The company brings specially curated assortments, categorised into food and beverages, kitchenware, household appliances, home decor, furniture, bedding, textiles, stationery and office supplies, electronic products and others.
