As telecom operators indulged in pricing turf in the wake Reliance Jio's aggressive plans to disrupt market, citizens feel low tariffs are good but telcos need to improve quality of service, says a survey.

According to the survey conducted by citizen engagement platform LocalCircles, 43 per cent respondents rated data services of incumbent operators as poor and 27 per cent rated voice services below the mark.

In terms of call drop, the survey said 53 per cent of the citizens rated their operators as average.

The survey was based on customers' expectations in terms of quality of service from their operators.

"Around 77 per cent of citizens believe the regulator TRAI has not done enough to improve things in last few years," the survey said.

Call charges in India are among the lowest in the world, the survey said, adding that "53 per cent of citizens, however, fond of downloading still find the telecom pricing expensive".

Despite the government's instruction to operators to improve network coverage, barring large operators, most companies have not invested adequately in improving the infrastructure, it added.
