Ahuja, who prior to his posting as the GOC was the Additional Director General Military Operations at the Army Headquarters, succeeds Lt Gen C A Krishnan.
The GOC while taking over the command said that he would take forward the army's commitment to maintain sanctity of the borders and contribute towards maintaining a secure internal environment.
He had previously commanded a sector of Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir and a Mountain Division in the North East, besides being well-versed with the defence and security nuances of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Lt Gen Krishnan, who would now serve at the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), conveyed his appreciation and gratitude to the people and Governments of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh for their whole hearted support and cooperation during his tenure as the GOC of the Gajraj Corps.
