The DGP felicitated the officials of the ATS and others at a function in the state capital and lauded them for carrying out the operation successfully, a police release issued here said.
Meanwhile, Inspector General (ATS) Aseem Arun also honoured the locals who provided immense support to his team in conducting the operation which lasted for 13 hours.
Six locals including Luvkush, Mohd Amir, Mohd Sayeed, Mohd Salim, Mohd Abdul Salam and Mohd Javed were felicitated at a programme at IG ATS' office here.
National Ulema Council who identified himself as Maulana Amir Rishadi Madni alleged that Saifullah was killed in a fake gun-battle.
He made this remark after meeting the family of the slain terror suspect here in Jajmau area.
Talking to reporters, he questioned the veracity of the gunfight and asked why was the DGP UP Police no where in the scene during the entire operation.
Madni said he would move Supreme Court over the matter.
Madni along with his supporters was, however, booked for allegedly making inflammatory speech and violating prohibitory orders imposed under CrPC section 144 in Jajmau area.
When asked about Madni's claims of being the chairman of Ulema Council, the SP said he had no clue about it.
