The SIT, which was constituted by Punjab DGP, is led by ADGP Crime Investigating Bureau of Varesh Kumar Bhawra, said Inspector General of Police Ishwar Singh, who is a part of the team.
The team today visited the police station Machhiwara (in Khanna) and later paid a visit to the spot where the alleged encounters took place here.
We examined the records at the Machhiwara police station and also made enquiries from several persons residing around the crime spot, he said.
The Punjab government thereafter suspended Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harsh Kumar Bansal, dismissed a Station House Officer (SHO) of Machhiwara Manjinder Singh, along with a constable and two home guard jawans from the service.
The father of the deceased, Satpal Singh, had alleged that the police party was hand in glove in the murder of his sons.
