M S Subbulakshmi's 100th birth anniversary celebrated

The Governors of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh today visited Shraddhanand Mahilashram at Matunga here and distributed sweets and clothes to girl inmates to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr M S Subbulakshmi.
Chairperson of the Mahilashram Achala Joshi and Member Dr V Shankar showed the Governors around the institution.
Earlier, the Governors Ch Vidyasagar Rao and E S L Narasimha listened to the 'Veda Ghosham' chanted by 100 vedic scholars and students at Shanmukhananda Hall as a tribute to the doyen of classical music, Dr Subbulakshmi, a Raj Bhavan statement said.
The programme was organized by the Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha.
Subbulakshmi had a long association with the Sabha and was presented the Honorary Patronship of the Sabha in 2000.
