Saradha scam accused Madan Mitra admitted in hospital

Saradha chitfund scam accused West Bengal Minister Madan Mitra was admitted to a private hospital here this morning as CBI moved Calcutta High Court seeking cancellation of his bail.

Mitra was admitted to Woodlands Hospital this morning at around 10.30 a.m, an official of the hospital said.

Mitra complained of uneasiness and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance from his residence at Bhowanipore area in south Kolkata.

Counsels for CBI mentioned before a division bench of the high court as soon as the day's proceedings began at 10.30 a.m that it wanted leave to move a petition seeking cancellation of bail of Mitra.

The bench presided by Justice Harish Tandon granted the prayer to move the matter before it later in the day.

Mitra was granted bail by Alipore court on Saturday and the minister, who was under treatment at state-run SSKM Hospital since February 11 owing to various illnesses.

He was declared fit and discharged from hospital only the day after the bail was granted following his release order from Alipore Correctional Home, from where he had been shifted to the hospital.

Mitra was arrested by CBI for alleged complicity in the Saradha scam in December, 2014.
