A pilot of the reboot has been ordered by the CBS, which will be developed by "Hawaii Five-O" writers Peter Lenkov and Eric Guggenheim, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original series followed the adventures of Hawaii- based private investigator Thomas Magnum, played by Selleck.
The reboot will reportedly have the same core elements of the original with some twists.
The Lenkov version will have Thomas Magnum, an ex-Navy SEAL, who returns home from Afghanistan and uses his military experience to begin a private investigation business.
The series will be executive produced by Blacklist producers John Davis and John Fox via their David Entertainment banner.
