Three persons were killed after two motorcycles on which they were travelling collided near Sarani area of Dahanu in neighbouring Palghar district late evening today, police said.
Police said that two children, who were also on the two vehicles, have been severely injured and are undergoing treatment.
The dead include a young married couple who were returning after celebrating Raksha Bandhan, he said.
He identified the dead as Swapnil Shingada (28), his wife Sharmila (25), both residents of Urse in Dahanu, and Mohan Guhe (28) of Wadhna.
He said that three-year-old Aarush Shingada and four-year-old Manavi Guhe suffered grievous injuries and had been shifted to Kasa rural hospital and Silvassa hospital respectively.
