A gram sevak in Maharashtra's Gondia district was Saturday nabbed for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a liqur shop owner, an Anti-Corruption Bureau official said.
Gram sevak Punjab Lobha Chauhan (37) had allegedly demanded Rs 1 lakh from a liquor shop owner so that the latter's shop details would not be mentioned in the minutes of a meeting convened by Korambhitola gram panchayat to impose prohibition in the village, the ACB official said.
Following a complaint, the ACB laid a trap Saturday at Arjuni Morgaon railway station and nabbed Chauhan when he accepted Rs 50,000 from the complainant, the official said.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered and further probe was underway, he said.
