To keep a tab on unauthorised constructions in the megapolis, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has suggested integration of digitisation of building proposals with satellite images.
"The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has already initiated digitisation of approval processes for building plans.
"But now, with the country heading towards 'Design in India' after 'Make in India', there is a need to take digitisation to the next level," Fadnavis said at an event 'Ease of Doing Business' organised by the BMC here today.
He said the corporation has taken the first step of digitisation of all the approval processes to ensure transparency and ease of doing business for developers.
"But now, we need to make use of latest technology for integrating the entire digitisation process with the 3D satellite imagery system, which will help us in keeping a tab on unauthorised constructions," Fadnavis said.
He said with the help of satellite images, the BMC would be able to track the construction activities undertaken, and if the authorities find any kind of deviation or irregularities, they can take action immediately.
He further said that apart from Mumbai, certain other municipal corporations and councils have created a single development control regulation (DCR), which will be applicable for construction projects in the respective areas.
"In the next two months, we will be able to launch it in those areas and the approval processes will be digitally enabled," Fadnavis added.
