"The chairman election would be conducted on March 20 and nominees can be suggested till tomorrow noon. The election has been announced after the post got vacant on March 16," Deputy Chairman Vasant Davkhare informed the House today.
Deshmukh had to leave his chair after the NCP moved a no-confidence motion against him.
While a total of 45 members voted in favour of the no- confidence motion in the Council on Monday, 22 voted against it. 27 members of the NCP voted in support of the no- confidence motion brought in by the party last week. The motion was also backed by 12 members of the BJP.
Besides NCP and the BJP, one member of the Shetkari Kamgar Paksha, one of the Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, one member of the Shiv Sangram, besides 3 independents voted in favour of the no-confidence motion.
