Minister for Rehabilitation and Relief Works Patangrao Kadam told the legislative assembly that in view of the equal rights granted to daughters in the coparcenary property, the government considers it expedient to suitably amend the act so as to give benefits of the project affected person to sisters, sons and daughters of the deceased sisters and daughters of the deceased brothers.
The Act provides for rehabilitation of persons affected by certain projects in the state such as irrigation, power, public utility and industrial projects.
Similarly, if agriculture land is recorded in the relevant village records in the name of one of the brothers as a 'karta' or manager of a Hindu joint family, then every brother (or son or sons of any deceased brother all together as one unit), who has a share in the land, whether his name is recorded in such a village record or not, shall be treated as an affected person and entitled to benefits under the Act.
