Maharashtra government would be requesting the Centre to send the gangster Chhota Rajan -- arrested by Indonesian police -- to the state first after he is deported to India and central agencies complete their investigations.
"Chhota Rajan is wanted in several cases in the state. Once he is deported and central investigation agencies are done investigating him, we will request the Centre to first send him here so that we can extract information from him in the cases for which he is wanted here," Maharashtra minister of state for home (rural) Ram Shinde told PTI.
A senior IPS official, meanwhile, said that among other things, Rajan's interrogation can "reveal new facts" about the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
It was due to the blasts that Rajan fell out with Dawood Ibrahim and established himself as a "Hindu don" by eliminating several accused in the blasts case, he said.
