Maharashtra government will start a cashless card scheme for teachers under which they can avail treatment in private hospitals, the cost for which will be borne by government, state Education Minister Vinod Tawde said today.
The scheme will cover teachers of primary, secondary and higher secondary schools attached to government and government-aided schools, Tawde said during the calling attention motion in the Legislative Council.
He said the proposed scheme will be on the lines of the Maharashtra Police Family Health Scheme under Home department.
"For now, if a government employee suddenly falls ill or needs immediate medical treatment, he can get himself treated in a private hospital and the treatment cost is borne by the state government," Tawde said while responding to MLC Kapil Patil.
"Similarly, the state government will now start a cashless card scheme for teachers of government and government-aided schools who are teaching in primary, secondary or higher secondary sections," the minister said.
