Maharashtra government today put in public domain the state's new women policy draft, inviting suggestions before its finalisation.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who launched a website at a function here to mark the International Women's Day, said the draft policy had been prepared taking into account the interests of women from all strata of the society, and the final document would take shape after considering their objections.
Chavan also asserted that those who indulged in violence against women as well as those involved in female foeticide would be subjected to strict punishment.
He said a commissionerate for women would be set up in Pune, and fast track courts for trials of crimes against women too would be set up across the state.
