Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil said here today that the government would increase the number of the fast track courts to try cases of crimes against women.
"The verdict (in the Shakti Mill case) was quick, but in other cases too, verdicts should be quick and victims should get justice. To ensure that, we will soon increase the number of fast track courts for women related cases," Patil said outside the court premises.
Welcoming the Shakti Mill verdict, he said the victims and their families received justice today. "This verdict will act as a deterrent," he said.
"Within the shortest time, the Mumbai police completed investigations. Charge sheets were filed and the crime of the accused has been proved in both the cases," Patil said.
Patil also added that compared to other states, women are much safer in Maharashtra and even if there are shortcomings, they would be rectified.
