Punjab Mahila Congress activists today held demonstration outside the office of Corporation Commissioner in Town Hall against property tax and growing crimes against women in the state.
A memorandum seeking intervention of President Pranab Mukherjee was presented to Naib-Tehsildar Manvir Singh Dhillon for dismissing Punjab government for its failure on all fronts, especially for levying property tax on poor, growing crimes against women and its fiscal mess.
Starting from Ramgarhia Gurdwara road, protesters with Mahila Congress president and former minister Malti Thapar, passed through Gaushala and Bansawala bazaars, before converging at Paper chowk on national highway where effigy of Punjab government was burnt.
The Congress declared that district wise demonstrations will be held throughout Punjab after December 4 to protest the property tax and growing crimes against women in the state.
