According to a complaint filed by the victim's father yesterday, the girl was allegedly raped by Sanjay Gupta, the owner of the house, who killed her with his wife Manju's help.
Refuting the allegations, Manju claimed the victim finished her work in the afternoon as usual and went to the top floor. However, when she didn't return after a long time, she went to check only to find her hanging from the ceiling.
Sector 7 police lodged a case against unidentified persons under section 302 and 34 of IPC and section 4 of POCSO yesterday.
The police have started investigations in the case, said Investigating Officer ASI Sunil.
The post-mortem confirmed death by hanging. However, more details would be known after the medical report is received, said Deputy CMO Dr Virendra Yadav.
