Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal here today asserted that his governments' top priority was to maintain law and order in the state.

He was responding to a query regarding a recent "fake encounter" in which two brothers were shot alegedly by an Akali activist.
Rubbishing aside allegations of high-headedness by Punjab Police officials, he said that it may well be observed that misconduct, dereliction of duty and failure to exercise proper supervisory control has made many officials face the music.
He said actions against the erring officials were not limited to routine enquiries or suspensions rather they were dismissed for their lapses, so none would dare to misuse his office.
"In fact, maximum dismissals of guilty officials under Article 311(2) of the Indian Constitution have been ordered during Akali-BJP regime", he said.
He was interacting with media after paying obeisance at the Golden Temple here. He was accompanied by his wife and Union Food Processing Industry Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
