Maize, barley rises in mixed trend

In a mixed pattern of trading, prices of maize and barley rose up to Rs 30 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to increased demand from consuming industries.
However, rice basmati and bajra eased on adequate supplies.
Traders said increased demand from consuming industries against restricted arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in maize and barley prices.
They said however, rice basmati and bajra eased on adequate supply against reduced offtake.
In the national capital, maize and barley rose by Rs 30 and Rs 20 to Rs 1,300-1,305 and Rs 1,540-1,545 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, rice basmati Pusa-1121 variety fell to Rs 5,500-6,000 against last close of Rs 5,900-6,600 per quintal. Bajra also weakened to Rs 1,095-1,100 from previous level of Rs 1,100-1,105 per quintal.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice 9,500, Basmati common new 7,000-7,500, Rice Pusa (1121) 5,500-6,000, Permal raw 2,100-2,150, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,650-2,700 and Rice IR-8 1,925-1,975,Bajra 1,095-1,100, Jowar yellow 1300-1,375, white 2,300-2,450, Maize 1,300-1,305, Barley 1,540-1,545.
