Prices of makhana and turmeric ended lower at the wholesale kirana market here today on adequate supplies from producing belts against reduced offtake.
However, other spices moved in a tight range and settled around previous levels.
Traders said besides adequate supplies on increased arrivals from producing belts, reduced offtake by stockists and retailers mainly led to the fall in makhana and turmeric prices.
In the national capital, makhana declined by Rs 10 to 345-420 per kg. Turmeric also eased by Rs 100 to Rs 7,600-13,200 per quintal.
Following are today's quotations per quintal:
Ajwain (per kg) 15,500-20,000, black pepper (per kg) 750-900, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,410-1,470 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,510-1,650.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 695-745, cardamom (colour robin) 675-735, cardamom bold 725-745, cardamom extra (bold) 895-945 and cloves 840-890.
