West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Thursday lambasted the Left parties for their supporters alleged attack on vehicles ferrying school children during the two-day nationwide strike called by central trade unions.

She condemned the attack on vehicles ferrying school children during the strike and termed them as "shameful".

"In the name of bandhs, the CPI(M) hurled bombs at school students. It is shameful. Despicable. Must be condemned. They destroyed Bengal for 34 years," Banerjee said addressing an administrative meeting here during the foundation stone laying of Kanyashree University.

Reports said that two nursery students were injured when a group of alleged strike supporters attacked a car ferrying them to school in Kolkata on Wednesday.

In Howrah protesters had allegedly pelted stones at a school bus injuring the driver.

Though nobody was arrested in connection with the incidents, the matter evoked lot of protests among the people.
