Mirza Rahmath Ali Baig, a resident of Alibagh, lured the minor girl after developing friendship with her over the last fortnight and promised to marry her. Believing his version she went away with him on April 14, they said.
After the girl went missing from her house, her mother lodged a complaint with Kalapather police. Investigation revealed that the accused had confined the girl in his house for three days in the name of marriage and committed sexual assault on her, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Charminar Division) K Ashok Chakravarthy said today.
Mirza, who is a robbery offender was arrested and produced before a local court yesterday which remanded him in judicial custody, police added.
