Man arrested for electrocuting friend to death

A 26-year-old man, who allegedly electrocuted his friend to death over a monetary dispute at south Delhi's Masoodpur Village, has been arrested, police said today.
The accused has been identified as Om Dutt Mishra. He and Rahul Kumar Chaudhary worked together at a travel agents' office in Gurgaon, said DCP (South) Prem Nath.
"Mishra electrocuted Chaudhary with the main electric wire of the house. This case was the first of its kind," the DCP said.
According to the police, Chaudhary's body was found at the staircase of a building in Masoodpur but the cause of his death could not be ascertained. Further investigation revealed that he was electrocuted and was last seen with Mishra.
The police arrested Mishra yesterday from his residence at Masoodpur. During interrogation, he told the police that Mishra and Chaudhary had taken out an office car for a ride without prior permission in September. The car met with an accident, for which Rs 50,000 had to be spent on repairs.
Since then, Mishra had been threatening Chaudhary of dire consequences if he did not pay half the amount.
Following which, Followeing which, one day Mishra called Chaudhary at his room and offered him alcohol. When he passed out, Mishra allegedly electrocuted him with the main electric wire of his residence, police said.
Later he dumped Chaudhary's body at the staircase of a nearby building, police added.
