Man arrested for helping undertrial in his escape

A man was today arrested from Punjab's Hoshiarpur district for allegedly helping an undertrial to escape from district court, police said today.
Accused identified as Sunny Sharma was arrested from Dera Mansar Mukerian in the district, an official spokesman of UT Chandigarh police in a release said.
The undertrial - Rajan Bhatti - had escaped from the custody of Constable Harbans Lal from court complex on October 13 after hearing of his case, the spokesman said.
Sharma along with his two accomplices had helped Bhatti to escape in a car, police said.
Bhatti has been facing criminal cases under various sections of IPC at sector 31, Chandigarh police station.

Another accused - identified as Shubham Rathour - who was involved in the escape conspiracy was arrested yesterday, police said.
Both Sunny and Shubham were produced before local court here which remanded them into police custody till October 21, the release stated.
