Man arrested for possessing leopard skin, smack

A man has been arrested and a leopard skin and smack drug were seized from him during a routine checking in the city, police said today.
Makhan Sonkar was going in his van when police stopped him in South Avenue Mall area and found a leopard skin and 50 gm smack in his possession last night, City Superintendent of Police Pankaj Kumawat said.
The skin was sent to the forest department which found that it was at least three months old. As per its length and width, the age of the leopard was estimated to be around 4 to 5 years, the officer said.

The leopard skin was in two pieces and no burn marks or holes were found in it which establishes that the feline was poisoned to death, police said.
A case under Wildlife Protection Act and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) was registered against the accused, they said, adding he will be produced in a court today.
