Shankar was allegedly trying to dispose of a huge sack, containing the body of his elder brother's sister-in-law near the bushes behind an under-construction building past midnight when locals caught him, a senior police official said.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that the woman, believed to be in her early 20s, lived with her sister and Shankar's brother at a construction site and had allegedly hanged herself to death after a heated argument with her relatives yesterday evening, he claimed.
He said that his brother called him up in the evening and asked for help in disposing of the body as the contractor wanted the "mess" to be cleared at the earliest, the police official claimed.
A case has been registered and police are looking for the contractor and Shankar's brother who are absconding, he said, adding the body has been sent for postmortem, while the woman's sister and a few other labourers are being questioned.
