Man attacks Bhojpuri singer

A Bhojpuri singer Soni Sinha received serious injuries when an allegedly enamoured fan attacked her with a sharp edged weapon, the police said.
"The incident pertains to Rastipur village of the district and took place late last night, when a fan of the singer, who also claims to be her lover, attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon, while she was returning to her residence.
"The singer sustained injuries on the neck, and has been referred to Varanasi for treatment," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shivji Shukla said.
The family members of the singer said that the attacker named Rahul was known to them, he said.

"The accused was pressuring the singer to marry him...He is absconding but we will arrest him soon," the ASP said.
