Pravin Koli (24), the accused, allegedly tried to rape the girl last night; when she resisted and started shouting, he smashed her head on the wall of a check-dam, said police sub-inspector M J Jalu of Meghpar police station.
Koli was absconding.
The girl's father took her to a Garba program in the village last night where he handed her over to Pravin, his cousin, and returned home.
Pravin allegedly took her to a deserted spot near the check-dam and tried to rape her, according to the police.
Police, who began search for the girl after her father approached them, learnt from some people at Garba that Pravin was seen taking her away towards the dam. The body was found today.
