The 36-year-old suspect, who hails from Nashik, was detained from Vatva locality with 75 currency notes of Rs 2000 denomination valued at Rs 1.5 lakh, apart from 625 Pound and 46 Saudi Riyal, total valued at Rs 22.50 lakh, Vatva police official said.
"During routine checking of vehicles, we found the suspect was standing on the roadside with a bag, trying to flee after spotting the police. The cops detained him on suspicion," said Vatva police sub-inspector S A Gohil.
The police claimed that the suspect had come to Ahmedabad to deliver the money to an unidentified person at the behest of his employer in Nashik, Gohil said, adding that he will be handed over to the Income Tax department after further questioning.
