Man commits suicide after killing wife, two children

A 36-year-old man allegedly killed his wife and two minor children before committing suicide on the outskirts of Raipur, police said today.
Surendra Dhritlahre strangulated his wife Radha (30) to death and shot dead his daughter Sakuntala (13) and son Akhilesh (6) at his house in Mandhar village under Vidhan Sabha police station limits yesterday, SHO Ghanshyam Singh said.
The accused later committed suicide by hanging from a tree at his native Amera village in neighbouring Balodabazar district, he said.
The incident came to light when no activity was found in Dhritlahre's house till late morning yesterday following which neighbours alerted the police.

Later, when police broke open the door of the house and entered the premises, they found the bodies of Dhritlahre's wife and children lying on a bed, he said.
Subsequently, a police team was mobilised to trace Surendra who had fled the spot after committing the crime.

He was found hanging from a tree in Amera village late last night, the SHO said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Surendra apparently had an affair with another woman and his wife knew about it.
They often had quarrels over the issue and this might have led to the incident, he said.
A case has been registered in this connection and the bodies have been handed over to the relatives after postmortem, the official added.
