Man confesses to serial rape and murder: Police

A 24-year-old man, arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl here, has confessed to sexually assaulting and killing at least 14 other children in the past six years, police claimed today.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vikramjeet Singh said Ravinder Kumar, a native of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, told investigators that he targeted young girls in Delhi, NCR and western UP. Kumar at present resides in Utsav Vihar's Karala in Outer Delhi.
"During the interrogation, he (Kumar) confessed to the crime and also revealed that he had sexually assaulted and killed at least 14 other children since 2009," Singh said.

"We showed him photographs of his victims... He identified one of the photographs, which is of a girl from Samaypur Badli. He killed that girl after rape in 2012," he said, adding that Kumar used to lure young girls with chocolates and money.
Police said they would conduct a psychological test of the accused. "His brain mapping will also be done," Singh said.
Kumar was arrested yesterday in connection with the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in outer Delhi's Begumpur area. The girl was reported missing on July 14 morning and an FIR was subsequently registered at Begumpur police station.

The body of the girl was found in an under-construction three-storey building, hardly 50 metres from her house. During search, some papers and a driving licence were found on the second floor of the building, police said, adding the driving licence was issued in the name of one Sunny.

Sunny, who was traced to a hospital, told policemen that Ravinder, his brother Sunil, and a juvenile accomplice had beaten him at Utsav Vihar and snatched his motorcycle, driving licence, mobile phone and Rs 2,000.
Soon after, police teams zeroed in on Kumar and his aides. A background check revealed that Kumar had been earlier arrested in connection with a case of sexual assault of a minor in 2014.

The police claimed that they have collected necessary evidence including scientific records to prove involvement of Kumar in the crime.
