Man dies as car hits tree, four injured

A man died on the spot and four others were injured in a mishap near Sitapaly Vagu in Maradumilly mandal of East Godavari district yesterday morning.
V Kirankumar (26), hailing from Valivala Peta in Kakinada division, and eight others were travelling in two cars when the mishap took place, said police sub-inspector Vijayababu of Rampachodavaram police station.
The car in which Kirankumar was travelling ran into a tree, killing him on the spot, he said.
Following which the driver of the second car applied brakes, and it too hit another tree, injuring its four passengers.
The injured were shifted to Rampachodavaram Government Hospital for treatment, the police officer said.
