A 32-year-old man, who was under treatment for alcoholism at a drug de-addiction centre here, died in his home today, with his family members alleging that he was assaulted by the employees at the centre, even as police said there was no injury mark on the body.
Santosh Sharma, a resident of Nand Nagri in northeast Delhi, was admitted to the de-addiction centre at Meetnagar-Saboli area for the last one month. He was taken home yesterday, they said.
He died this afternoon. The family members claimed that yesterday Santosh had alleged that he was assaulted by the employees at the de-addiction centre, police said, adding the matter is under investigation.
"No external injury marks were found on the body. Post-mortem will be carried out tomorrow to confirm the cause of death. He was quite lean and was addicted to alcohol that had weakened him. We are investigating the matter," a senior police officer said.
Santosh was admitted to the de-addiction centre due to his deteriorating health condition, he said.
