Additional sessions judge Kuldip Singh held Jora Singh guilty in the case and pronounced the verdict on him, prosecution sources said.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs two lakh on the convict. In default of payment of fine, Singh will have to undergo RI for two years.
He was also convicted under Arms Act, 1959 and awarded three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000.
Failed to pay the fine, Singh will have to further undergo RI for nine months.
Jora Singh made an attempt to murder Dr Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, the former vice-chancellor of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, in August 2011 by using his .32 bore revolver.
