District and Session judge Pramod Kumar Jena convicted 24-year-old Chintamani Jena under the provision of the POCSO Act for the raping a 9-year-old girl in 2013 and sentenced him to the prison term.
The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 30,000 on the man and ordered one more year of RI in case of default in payment of the fine.
The incident took place at Barasimulia village in Mayurbhanj district on November 6, 2013. Biswal, who was earlier arrested by the police, had raped the minor girl when she had gone out of her house to answer the call of nature.
