Praveen Chandra (35) fom Mandadigudde in Bantwal near here is the person convicted in the case.
But the co-accused Chandra's mother Devaki (68) and sister Sunitha (37) were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Chandrika (22), wife of Praveen Chandra had committed suicide on June 11 in 2011 allegedly due to harassment from her husband.
Chandra received 3 years rigorous imprisonment for abetting suicide under section 306 of IPC and Rs 15,000 fine with additional 9 months if he does not pay the fine and two years imprisonment for mental harassment and physical torture under section 498 A of IPC with a fine of Rs 10,000.
