Additional District and Sessions Judge Shirish Gadge yesterday sentenced Vijay Sudam Wagh to life imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 2.26 lakh on him for raping the minor girl on December 19, 2011, at Anandpur Shivar locality near Malegaon-Askheda road of Malegaon taluka in Nashik district.
According to police, the girl was going to an agricultural field to hand over a tiffin to her grandfather, when the accused came from behind, shut her mouth and took her to a nearby river bank where he raped her.
The court examined 10 witnesses before pronouncing the accused guilty and awarding him life sentence.
