Additional Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court) Chamba Mukesh Bansal convicted and sentenced Sanjay Kumar to life imprisonment yesterday and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 and in default of payment of fine, the convict will further undergo simple imprisonment for one year.
Kumar allegedly assaulted his nine-year-old niece in December 2009 when the victim visited her grandparents during vacations.
He took her inside the room on the first floor and raped the girl by gagging her mouth. He threatened to kill her if she informed any one about the incident, police said.
The police registered a case and arrested the victim who was convicted by the fast track court.
