District Fast Track Mahila Court Judge N Thirunavukkarasu convicted Aswath of Diginarai village and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
According to prosecution, Aswath had raped the 20-year old woman in her house on February 28 last and threatened her not to reveal about it.
However, she informed her parents and on their complaint, Thalawady police had registered a rape case and arrested Aswath.
The fast track court conducted the trial and delivered the sentence in six months.
